I have a Walnut tree in my backyard and I need to know how to dry the walnuts out and need help on what to do?
They are green balls and the neighbor said to crack them open and then dry them out. How long to they need to dry and if I get stains on me what's the best way to get them out. It's the first time I've done this!

It sounds like you may have a black walnut tree. When I was a kid my father used to gather them on a tarp (any old blanket, sheet, or towel would work too) and put them in a dry area until the green shells began to turn black and peel off. lay them out on a flat surface so the air can get to them. Out of the rain is best as they will dry more quickly. Once they have turned completely brown, the outside huskes will begin to crack.
