Girls would have had much the same sort of academic education as boys, with certain exceptions, like it would have been more usual for girls to have domestic science classes (cookery etc) while boys might do things like woodwork and metalwork... More

Not much formal education, however many became first time workers. They worked in offices, manufacturing plants, farms. this became a huge source of education for many women.
