Can I apply for Dental Assistant jobs with my Bachelor's degree by the time I graduate?

I'm a History/Physics double major and a senior at Tulane, and i was wondering if I could apply for Dental Assisting jobs, but I wasn't sure what the education qualifications for such a job would be. Could I start working at a dentist's office and then get certification for it later on? Or would a special degree or certification already be required for such a job? My plan was to work as a dental assistant for a few years, then perhaps later on apply to dental school.

Yes, find a dentist who is willing to mentor and train you, and you can later do the certifications to do x-rays and polishing and such.... you will be unlicensed, but can still do some things....and a good start. Check your State's web page for education and license requirements
