what steps do i take to be a Photojournalist ?

im going to enlist in the army or marines to get money for my education, but what steps do i take to be a Photojournalist. after my service i want a job where i can travel a lot and meet new people, and Photojournalism seems about right. what you think? i think it would hep a lot if i get sent to iraq to serve my country. a great career starter.

Just to expand on fhotoace's comment, the branches of the service have photography schools which actually provide a fairly complete education in photojournalism. You major in journalism and minor in photography. If you can get the Army to train you as a combat photographer, that would be a good start. Collect as many 'tear sheets' as you can and you can use them as your entree into school

If you want to be a photojournalist, the best plan is to go to a good college for photojournalism, of which there are plenty. Get internships at reputable papers in your area if possible... More
