For the Dark Night of the Soul to end, do you just have to wait it out?

Or do you have to do something, work yourself out of it? I'm not referring to the Dark night of the senses, but of the Soul. I'm not worthy to go through this ,I know, because I'm no saint. But I've been like this for 10 years. Anyone who's gone through this, some advice please? Catholics? To anneslac: thankyou *wipes tears from my eyes* (I would've chosen you as best answer except I don't know how?) To maenad: I really appreciate your response. Thankyou also.

I think you have to go -through- it, rather than around, or under, or past it, or pretending it's still daytime when it isn't. I think that involves addressing the root causes of it. What are you afraid of? Why? and to keep asking those questions and being honest with yourself.

Not sure what you're referring to. Do you mean purgatory? What is the Dark night of the Soul? I'd leave the Catholic church if I were you. They put too much fear into you. There is no such thing as purgatory btw. I'm Pentecostal (AoG). We rightly divide the word of truth. Amen.
