I am considering purchasing a single engine 4 or 6 place plane?
I would like some ideas on how I may make a couple of bucks while flying. I am not a commercial pilot. I am IFR and multi certified. I have thought about taking an occasional photographer up for ariel photos but those jobs would be few and far between. I would like something I could do pretty much on my schedule. Like making local deliveries or such and who should I check with?

Aviophag is 100% correct on every detail. You CANNOT charge people money to take them flying or carry their goods by air. PERIOD. Back when I was in private pilot school, unless you had your commercial rating, you were allowed to charge only for expenses directly related to operating the aircraft, such as reimbursement for fuel costs. That was back in '96, so things may have changed, or I may be remembering the rules incorrectly . . .

Flying photographers is one thing. Making deliveries is quite another. That is a Part 135 operation that requires a massive input of time and money in order to get an operating certificate... More

I doubt that making deliveries would work even if it was legal. Anyone willing to pay for air delivery is not going to wait for your schedule. There are dozens of local ground express delivery services available who could probably deliver faster and cheaper than you.

You could rent out your plane while you do not use it and make the renters pay for gas and all other services.
