Is the job market as bad as everyone says?

It seems like everyone I know has no problem finding a 12 dollar an hour job through craigslist and temp agencies. What do you all think? What are your experiences? What do you think will happen? I work in the engineering field as a cad designer. Are these jobs really non existent?

I am a recruiter, and so far I have not seen any down turn in demand for good engineers.

I am a recruiter in the construction industry and construction work in the gulf south is doing quite well from my perspective. Pretty much any skilled labor hand should be able to find a job, including engineers. I do think if the economy continues to decline though work will cut back around 2010.

It is as bad. And it will continue to get worse. Then, some time in the future, it will get good again. That is the way the business cycles work..
