should a correctional officer be notified of an inmates health?

Inmates have the right to privacy under the fourth (4th) amendment to the Constitution. Because of this right, criminal justice agents (correctional officers, treatment counselors) are not made aware of an inmate’s health issues (such as HIV/AIDS, TB). Do you think they should??

I'm sure inmates go through rigorous health screenings when they enter the prison system. The fourth amendment doesn't apply to rampant infectious diseases.

Unfortunately no. But there should be a system in place that if an officer or person is exposed to the offender's bodily fluids, that the proper steps be taken to treat that person to prevent contracting that disease... More
