Have you ever just stopped caring about your life?

I got B's in every class this semester....and I don't really care, even though if it continues, I'll lose my scholarship, but I don't even care about that anymore...I actually feel like it would be a weight off my shoulders. I got a traffic ticket the other night....and I don't really care, despite knowing it will probably cost a couple hundred dollars. I work at a job where I constantly have patients yelling at me because their doctor won't call them or because their insurance won't pay for their medicine.....and I don't care. The only thing I really care about at this point is what happens with my dad and his illness. Do you think maybe that's why the other things don't bother me? Because his cancer is much bigger than the other things I listed? I used to just consider myself easy-going, but now it's getting to the point that I'm starting to think there might be something wrong with me....it can't be normal to not care what happens with your life one way or the other, is it?? If you actually read all that, thanks. Any opinions/similar stories?

Well, first of all, I don't think there is anything wrong with you. While your dad's cancer may be responsible for you becoming more apathetic towards other facets of your life, I believe that alternative explanations are more likely... More

I think what is happening with your dad might very well be causing you to not care about other things in your life. If you have been close to your dad, and it is making you sad, that would deplete your energies. Even if you are not close, having someone in your immediate family have a major illness like cancer can give... More

I'm no Dr Phil but it sounds like you're a normal teen aged young woman. I can't tell you to buckle down on the grades because it seems you're doing fine. As for the traffic ticket, I'm sure you were probably thinking about something that distracted you from your driving. (I still think the cop just likes you) Now... More

I think it's a normal response to your situation. It's hard to care about anything else when a loved one is in a life threatening situation
