Pros and cons on being a K9 officer ?

Was thinking about being a K9 officer but wanted advise first be for I persue.

You will not be selected for K-9 duty immediately. Before being considered for any special assignment, you will have to put your time in the patrol division, and prove yourself there. That will give you plenty of time to observe the K-9 handlers, and make an informed decision.

i looked into it when i was younger. apparently the thing most people fail on is the ability to live with and house the dog, 24/7. it's like the police giving you a child to look after.

You have to establish yourself as a reliable law enforcement officer that maturely handles responsibilities.
