Why are the UK government helping Jaguar/Land Rover and not Woolworth's?

Jaguar/Land Rover an old established company many jobs at stake, Woolworth's 30,000 jobs at stake why help one without the other. Woolworth's are 99 years old and much a part of every shoppers lives. Why was Tatar allowed to buy Jaguar/Land Rover if they need money so soon.

Quite simply.. Beacause one is a manufacturing company and the other is a retailer. Retail wouldn't exist if there was no manufacturing.

woolies was a lost cause a long time back, sad as that may seem, an ailing, out moded, outdated business, that should have firstly not borrowed 300 odd million a while back, as we were already heading for a recession and they had been in trouble for a very long time... More
