DENVER (AP)—The Denver Broncos are a team in need of a comeback. No surprise, then, that John Elway’s name keeps popping up.

The Hall of Fame quarterback has been mentioned as a possible part of the management team that replaces Mike Shanahan, who was terminated as coach and executive vice president of football operations.

No. 7 in the front office? Shanahan certainly believes Elway’s presence could be a good move for the Broncos.

“We know what John Elway means to Denver,” Shanahan said Wednesday at his farewell news conference. “If I was a free agent coming in and John Elway was there, I’d sign for no money.”

The idea isn’t so farfetched: Elway co-owns the Arena Football League’s Colorado Crush with Broncos owner Pat Bowlen.

However, the ex-QB is lean on experience, his only front-office background coming from running the Crush, a team whose season is currently on hold as the league figures out its financial situation.

On the field, there was nobody better—at least there’s very little debate about that in Denver. Shanahan’s arrival as coach helped Elway break through and finally win not one, but two Super Bowls. Elway was named MVP of the second one and strolled off into the sunset after that.

He engineered 47 winning or game-saving drives in his career, and now, many in the Mile High City hope he’ll be called on for another kind of save.

“John Elway’s got lots of things to do,” Bowlen said. “He’s got a business life of his own. He’s a very busy man … I haven’t talked to John. I don’t have any idea if he has any interest. But I do know he’s very busy doing a lot of other things.”

Elway did not immediately return calls or e-mails seeking comment.

Bowlen wouldn’t speculate on who he may be courting to run the club, but did say his priority is to find a head coach first, a front-office face later.

He doesn’t foresee giving the next coach the same type of command that he afforded Shanahan. Names such as Bill Cowher, Scott Pioli and a number of NFL assistants, including Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, have been mentioned.

“I hope that I can replace him with somebody that can be on the same level that Mike was,” Bowlen said, trying to hold back his emotions as he talked about his close relationship with Shanahan. “That’s obviously going to be very hard to do. I think it was time for the organization to move on and for Mike to move on. I have no regrets in making that decision.

“We’re trying to get a great coach to come in here. This job in Denver is a very attractive one.”

Whoever he picks won’t be as well-known in Denver as Elway, who has turned into an entrepreneur, running a string of car dealerships before selling the company. His name is on a pair of fancy steakhouses in the area, he’s a shareholder in the Colorado-based Professional Bull Riders, Inc., along with Wayne Gretzky, and teamed with a store to produce his own signature furniture line.

He’s also shown an interest in politics and has wedding bells in his future after his engagement to Paige Green, a former Oakland Raiders cheerleader whom he met at a celebrity golf tournament three years ago.

His time is pretty well occupied these days.

The next Broncos coach will inherit a prolific offense that has a franchise quarterback in place in Jay Cutler, who set team records for passing yards, completions and pass attempts while earning his first Pro Bowl nod.

Elway even said last month how impressed he was with the maturation of Cutler, who famously claimed that he had a stronger arm than the Bronco great.

“He can throw the ball well and move around,” Elway said. “The sky’s the limit for Jay as long as he continues to work hard.”

Bowlen had a conversation with Cutler on Wednesday morning, reassuring the third-year quarterback who has a strong bond with quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates.

A bond like Shanahan and Elway had in their heyday.

“Jay understands enough about the business of football, the game of football, to know there’s going to be coaching changes,” Bowlen said. “I didn’t sense that Jay had any negative feelings about it. I’m sure he’s very interested in who’s going to be the next head coach. Obviously, he’s `The Man’ around here now.”

Elway will always be the standard among signal callers in Denver. Brian Griese and Jake Plummer couldn’t win the ultimate prize living under the shadow of Elway, while Cutler has yet to even make it to the playoffs.

Could one help the other?

“I think John would be perfect for any organization, especially this one if that’s what he wants to do,” Shanahan said.

Maybe in the front office or as an assistant coach but not sure if he could be a head coach. He doesn't have any experience. You also hate to have someone who is such a big idol and a big name coach for you because then if something goes bad it ruins the reputation of Elway and of the Broncos.

Hahahahah no i dont think so. playing?? no. hes done with that.

im a huge broncos fan and as for coaching i dont know i guess he'd be new and exciting but with such little experience...idk.
itd be cool, but im not sure thats what the team needs. wow would that be exciting though if he did something with them! haha

id back it if he came as some kind of assistant. huh. i guess they want a new twist right? and what would be better for young jay cutler than to have someone like john elway there to help him out too.

Other Career Questions

Ok, I know some of the problems a lot of us have in regards to American Football. I will address some of the common ones now in hopes that you will try and see past the ignorant labels many Brits have applied to the sport. 1. It's rugby with pads, what are they all scared to take a hit? American football is only SUPERFICIALLY similar to rugby, so get that comparison out your noggin right now, it's just wrong. It also has harder hits in areas of the body and at angles that Rugby forbids. Look at it like this. Where Rugby stops the hits with rules, American Football stops the hits with pads. 2. American Footballers are always stopping and taking breaks, this makes it VERY boring. Yes, the pace of American Football does take a long time to get used to. You have to understand the way the game is played to fully understand all the stops. It is like a field of battle, or a chess game, the coaches have hundreds of plays of dozens of formations that each have their own strengths and weaknesses when compared to what the other team's formation is, how many yards (yes they use yards) left to move the downs, how far from the endzone the ball is, how much time is left on the game clock, and several other factors after that. Each team's coach spends days each week planning out each game, and what formations they will use to exploit the opposing team's weaknesses. 3. The AF players have no skill. Yes, they do. Their skills are just very specified for each position. Look at it, again, like chess, each position, or piece, can do different things to move or stop the ball. The Running back can carry the ball for quick gains of yard. The Full back can push through a strong line of defence. A Tight end can stop an unusually strong defensive wave of pressure OR it can run out to catch the ball for a large gain. The wide recievers are used to quickly out distance the defensive players and if that's not possible to grab the ball from right in front of the defender's eyes, for a usually large gain, the Wide Reciever can even run the ball on occasion of the caoch wants to really surprise the defense. The Quarterback can run the ball for a small unexpected gain, can throw the ball to the ground to stop the game and prevent a turnover to the defense, and can throw the ball to any eligible receiver which includes, the running back, the full back, the tight end, and the wide receivers. Then there is the Offensive line. a group of massively large and strong men who's job is to stop the defense from rushing to the quarterback and ending the play quickly and usually for a loss of yards. The Tight end can become part of the offensive line at times, as can both the full and running backs. Defensive players include Defensive Tackles and Defensive Ends. Players that are only focused on getting to the quarterback before he get's rid of the ball. (The qb is nearly always the one who first touches the ball on offense) If the QB hands the ball to the RB (running back) then the defensive tackle/ defensive end is to do his best to put the RB on the ground. They are usually right on the line of scrimmage that separates the offense from the defense. Then there are linebackers. Linebacker's jobs are to stop any short pass, but mostly to make sure no run with the ball gains any positive yards. They are usually about 5 or 6 yards behind the DT/DEs. Then there are he Corner backs, they're job is to watch the reciever's and stop any medium to long gain of yards through the air,. Last is the Safeties, Strong and Free. They're job is to be the last line of defense if the other players all fail to stop the ball, as well as to guard against any deep pass. AKA your "Hail Mary" There is also the place kicker who's job it is to kick the ball in between the uprights for a score of the 3 points called field goals. The last player is the punter, he is mean to kick the ball to the recieving defense in the event that the offense is pushed back and is about to turn the ball over to the defense if they fail again. So the punter drop kicks the ball as far down the field as he can to give his defense the best chance to stop the opposing teams offense. so each position does it's own job and they all require different skills. Now I am just trying to silence some of the unfair labels we Brits have given American Football my explanation is a little shaky and missing some key info, Like rules of the game and basic game play. I suggest you find some website that goes into more and clearer detail if this has opened your mind up at all. By the way, I still love Rugby for more than A.F.. But the game does deserve a second look by many of us.

I am from MEXICO, and I have always been involved in playing and coaching American Football. I have studied a Masters in Sports Science (Coaching Football) and would like to start my coaching career in the United States, but I do not know anyone in the football environment who can help me get a foot in the door. I have written to many schools and organizations, but I don't get the chance because no one knows me and how I work. How can I start my career with all of these difficulties?

We are outsourcing American Football to other countries so a certain few can make more money.Think of all the money that will be lost by outsourcing American football to other countries.Hotels, grocery stores stadium venders, public transit, gas stations, restrauants.I can keep going on.Also, how many jobs will be lost to the outsourcing to other countries. That's money out of the workers pockets who need to pay bills and feed their families.Look at who is losing more from this deal and who is gaining at the cost of the people who are losing.

So today I went in for an interview and I was going in for the 2nd interview by the head chief executive. now this is where it got weird, so she asked me about my previous jobs and said how much she liked that product over that product. then she started talking about her daughter? an her divorce ...then how she didn't finish college because she was making more money doing what she did for this company ... then she talked about how her teenage daughter is a handful... I just played it cool thinking she was using some sort of psychology thing to trick me into saying something stupid. the interview ended and she seemed happy an I was escorted to the door... now I'm freaking confused? is this normal behavior for an executive? like it felt like she was going to burst into tears at one point and tell me her life problems... is this normal? was she trying to see how I react or something?

Basically- no degree, although I have tried completing one in the past and stopped because of physical and mental health issues which were overwhelming to deal with along with going to classes full time. I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. I had also tried going back to community college during my free time since i left university in 2008/9 and I had panic attacks while in community college, which made my anxiety worse from then on. Well recently I met a good doctor and he prescribed me some meds that are stabilizing my moods and I feel the best I've felt in years, and I'm ready to work. Thing is, I don't know how to get a job now since I've spent literally years being depressed and anxious doing nothing. I don't really have anything to put on my resume, and I never finished my AA degree either. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid. But I hate cashiering because it's too easy and I want a job that is more interesting. Any suggestions for me on how to get a job that is NOT Retail with the type of background I have right now? I also realize I have to go to college to get certain types of jobs, I am talking about what I can do right here right now.

Recently I have overlooked for a project at work and I am unable to accept it why? I am hard working, dedicated, maintain a very professional decorum, very cordial with my colleagues and bosses, give respect to one and all. Still people who take the p***, argue with managers, gossip mongers have been selected for some very responsible positions at work. I seriously can't get my head around it why, why unprofessional people who have no work ethics being selected over me, whereas I have a track record of excellent performance and never shy away from any work my manager ask me to do? I am at my lowest point and not getting hold of my manager to ask the question why not me, why them who can't even bother? I am feeling like a complete loser, giving years to this place, building my performance, trust and this is how I get rewarded. Why my life is so shit, anything I wish for turns to dust?

So I have a nice white button up shirt, business skirt and pants, and a suit jacket. I'm applying for a software development job and I'm very short and can look young so I'm trying to look adult, yet professional. I'm also attractive so I'm trying not to look too sexy. For the career fair I'm thinking of wearing just my nice shirt and a skirt with low heels. My reasoning being it's approachable and attractive without going overboard since the career fair hosts are mostly younger male recent grads. I want to be remembered but not intimidating. For my interviews I was thinking pants, suit jacket (power suit). My reasoning being it'll be older execs and HR people (mostly women) so less sexy with the pants but more powerful with the suit jacket. What do you think?!

Our commitment to training and development encourages our people to grow their futures with us. If successful in joining our team, how will you become an expert at what you do? and At Debenhams, our people make all the difference to our customers. If you were a Stock Movement Adviser with us, how would our customers know that you are focused on their individual shopping experience? I am in the process of planning my own wedding and I am having a fantastic time doing so. I have always enjoyed planning things: group vacations for my friends and I, road trips, etc... I could be described as a slight control freak and I am a perfectionist. I know I would exceed, and enjoy my career, if I were to make this a possibility. How do I do it? How do I get my name out there? How much do event planners charge for their services? I have a lot of questions, and hope that people who are self employed would be able to give me some pointers on getting my business up and running. Thank You in advance for your time and help.
