What is a realistic solution to the benefits system?

I don't mean just cut the lot, but something that will look after us should we (god forbid) be made redundant, yet put an end to the dirty, chavvy, scummy, baby machines that seem to live in this world. I hate them yet worry that i will be made redundant in these hard times and my family will get nothing. So what is the solution?

The Benefits system should be overhauled to provide more financial assistance to the newly unemployed and be based on a minimum level of Tax and NI contributions. It should also be earnings related at least for an initial period of at least 3 months given the average length of time it can take to find a new job. A... More
