Can an american ever be elected president who declares "Israel is just another country to me"?

Assuming a reporter asked a candidate for president? "Will you be a friend to Israel"? and the candidate answers by saying "Israel is one of many countries around that we are allies with. They are just another one of our allies..I don't believe in such things as being "friends" with a country. My job if elected will be to be a friend to the american people and represent them the best way I can. If you are referring to whether or not I will blindly agree with everything Israel does, then the answer is no. Israel does somethings right but they also do somethings wrong, and as president I will call their actions them as I see them." What do you think, assuming an otherwise well qualified and very appealing candidate makes that comment, do you think he or she can get elected president of the USA? I don't know, I have a feeling the corporate media would be calling this hypothetical candidate an antisemite .....

Let me ask you a question: would it ever be possible to say with honesty that Canada, England and Australia are just allies, no different from from France, Germany and Italy, for example? If not, this supposition that there is no thing as "friends" between countries is spurious.

ya, the majority of americans are kinda gullible when it comes to these things. so you'll have the candidate say the he won't blindly support everything they do and you'll have the newspaper heading say. "Candidate is Against Israel... More
