How can i teach my baby to stop associating going to sleep with me?

My daughter of 10 weeks always associates me with nap time, sleep time etc and will only go to sleep on me or my partner, and cries if she wakes in her cot. Are there any small things we can do to help her fall asleep on her own? I know she is young but just don't want her to fall into bad habits.

yes, it's rough! She likes the comfort of her mommy and daddy. Anyhow, just try putting her down and be persistent. Swaddle her, she will feel nice and warm. She will like hearing your voice too. Good luck, I know it's not easy!

This will be difficult on you, but it will only get harder if you let it go. You can't get around the fact that she's going to cry when you put her in bed for a nap or at night. Persistently. But it's her job to learn how to put herself to sleep. There is no "small" thing to do, or painless way to go about this.

Lay the baby down and lay maybe a stuffed animal or blankets around her so that she feels close to something. Play the tape or the CD for her. For the first few times she might cry but don't go in there. Let her... More

Only three things help. Let her cry! Let her cry! Let her cry! After awhile the crying will stop and all concerned will be better off.
