How do you find the insurance company if you were a beneficiary of a Boyfriend who just died?

My boyfriend passed away from a heart attack. I remember that he mentioned that I was his beneficiary, but I never paid attention what insurance company it was with. He doesn't have any living relatives except me, so no family to ask for help with this question. How do I find out?

Was he insured through work or his own personal life insurance or what not? His work should be able to tell you if you ARE in fact the beneficiary and what the company is and what not. I"m assuming you lived together, so find his papers. He must have some record of it.
