Why do you think some bands don't last long?

1. Apathy towards the music. Some bands fail because individual musicians fall 'out of love' with the music you've chosen to create or cover. A heavy metal guitarist won't be happy in a 70s cover band any more than a country singer would enjoy playing jazz. Sometimes tastes change, and one particular band member may decide that your sound does not match their interests anymore.

As the leader of the band, you should make every effort to include everyone's personal tastes into the set selection process. Perhaps your jazz-influenced guitarist would be happy with a solo piece thrown into the mix. If your drummer prefers a hard thrash sound and you are primarily a 60s cover band, you might try finding some new music in that genre that calls for furious drumming. If you're happy with the band as musicians, you need to make an effort to appeal to them as individuals as well. If the band member has a real problem with your chosen style, you may be better off without their disruptive influence.

2. Solo careers Every once in a while, a talent comes along who is so amazingly good that any band would be blessed to have them. In fact, it is often this same talent that causes the band to break up. Many rock bands are a balance of egos and abilities, which can be much harder to maintain when one member begins to get so much more attention than the rest. A virtuoso lead singer or an Eric Clapton-level guitarist can put a band on the map, but it may not stay there long if tensions build. Some bands become comfortable with the idea of being a 'backing group' to an incredible talent. Others begin to feel less appreciated and lose interest in the entire project. Once word of the lead singer's extraordinary talent gets out, he or she may be pressured into leaving the band to pursue a solo career.

As the leader of the band, you have a delicate balancing act to perform. As the gap between wunderkind and band begins to widen, you should try to get a feel for where individual band members stand on the issue. Are they comfortable with their more subdued roles behind the raw talent, or do they feel underappreciated? This situation is not to be taken lightly. If you cannot coordinate a truce successfully, you may have to make some serious cuts in personnel or else risk losing the most talented member of the band. You must also get some idea on the aspirations of your virtuoso. Are they satisfied with the band arrangement, or are they seeking a solo career? You don't want to stand in the way of true talent finding its own level, but you also need to know where things stand right now.

3. Lack of financial incentive Band rehearsals take a lot of time and effort, not to mention money. Equipment must be maintained, upgraded or replaced. Instruments may require expensive repairs or new accessories. Time spent in the band may be time taken away from more lucrative ventures, such as a second part-time job. Many beginning bands split up simply for economic reasons. Gigs may be few and far between at first, and whatever money that is generated must be split among a lot of hands. An out-of-town club may offer good money, but travel expenses may eat up the profits. Getting a new band established takes promotion and advertising- two very expensive propositions for the leader/manager. Some band members cannot continue pursuing a musical career while trying to support a wife and children. The band may not break up as much as dissolve through lack of finances.

To address this problem, you must be open and honest with the entire band. Don't try to tapdance around the issue of money. Tell the band what sort of budget you have to work with, and let them know what sort of sacrifices they may have to make in order to achieve success. If you have a talented band member who is struggling financially, you may have to offer some support until the incomings start matching the outgoings. Never overextend your band's ability to cover expenses. If your band is offered a food or beverage tab, keep an eye on the bottom line. It can be very tempting to eat and drink the entire night's profits.

4. Outside influences Forming a working band is much like forming a marriage or a business partnership. You will be spending quite a bit of time away from your family, whether in rehearsals or in performance. You may find yourself putting the needs of the band over your own personal commitments. Tensions may begin to form with spouses who feel neglected or employers who feel like your primary job is not important to you anymore. Not everyone can truly commit themselves to a rock and roll lifestyle and also stay committed to the other elements in their lives. Bands often break up due to the influences of those outside the confines of the band itself. Loyalties and commitments may be questioned, creating tremendous pressure on a band member who is uncomfortable in his or her role. Personal decisions may adversely affect professional aspirations.

Drugs is one example. There has been some really passionate bands but one or two members are drug-addicted, get themselves booted, replaced with younger talent and became virtual unknowns until they show up on a VH1 "Where Are They Now?" program.

I don't think it's because of drugs or even the death of one of the bandmates. Look at NIrvana, Sublime, Elliott Smith. Hell look at Bob Marley. If they really have heart they'll last. It's only the popular bands that don't have dedicated fans that don't last. Who would care if Gym Class Heroes or the Fray or the bloody Pussycat Dolls stop making music?

So today I went in for an interview and I was going in for the 2nd interview by the head chief executive. now this is where it got weird, so she asked me about my previous jobs and said how much she liked that product over that product. then she started talking about her daughter? an her divorce ...then how she didn't finish college because she was making more money doing what she did for this company ... then she talked about how her teenage daughter is a handful... Basically- no degree, although I have tried completing one in the past and stopped because of physical and mental health issues which were overwhelming to deal with along with going to classes full time. I'm not stupid and I am quite articulate. I am 23 and have only worked for about two years retail in high school and stopped working to go to university. I worked a few months in 2010 retail after I dropped out but it was only a seasonal position, and the only reason why I have not been able to constantly work is because of mental health issues. I had also tried going back to community college during my free time since i left university in 2008/9 and I had panic attacks while in community college, which made my anxiety worse from then on. Well recently I met a good doctor and he prescribed me some meds that are stabilizing my moods and I feel the best I've felt in years, and I'm ready to work. Thing is, I don't know how to get a job now since I've spent literally years being depressed and anxious doing nothing. I don't really have anything to put on my resume, and I never finished my AA degree either. All I've done is cashiering and although I do the job well and I get promoted easily when I do these jobs because I'm a hard worker and I try to go above and beyond what they ask of me,which is the attitude I have no matter what kind of work I'm doing as long as I'm getting paid. But I hate cashiering because it's too easy and I want a job that is more interesting. Any suggestions for me on how to get a job that is NOT Retail with the type of background I have right now? I also realize I have to go to college to get certain types of jobs, I am talking about what I can do right here right now.

Recently I have overlooked for a project at work and I am unable to accept it why? I am hard working, dedicated, maintain a very professional decorum, very cordial with my colleagues and bosses, give respect to one and all. Still people who take the p***, argue with managers, gossip mongers have been selected for some very responsible positions at work. I seriously can't get my head around it why, why unprofessional people who have no work ethics being selected over me, whereas I have a track record of excellent performance and never shy away from any work my manager ask me to do? I am at my lowest point and not getting hold of my manager to ask the question why not me, why them who can't even bother? I am feeling like a complete loser, giving years to this place, building my performance, trust and this is how I get rewarded. Why my life is so shit, anything I wish for turns to dust?

As stated in my question I've applied for multiple jobs and gotten no job interview, you name a place I've applied there. I've said i will work ridiculous hours from like 12am to 5am and nothing. I've said I am willing to work weekends public holidays everything and I have gotten nothing back I am so desperate for money it's not funny.

So I have a nice white button up shirt, business skirt and pants, and a suit jacket. I'm applying for a software development job and I'm very short and can look young so I'm trying to look adult, yet professional. I'm also attractive so I'm trying not to look too sexy. For the career fair I'm thinking of wearing just my nice shirt and a skirt with low heels. My reasoning being it's approachable and attractive without going overboard since the career fair hosts are mostly younger male recent grads. I want to be remembered but not intimidating. For my interviews I was thinking pants, suit jacket (power suit). My reasoning being it'll be older execs and HR people (mostly women) so less sexy with the pants but more powerful with the suit jacket. What do you think?!

I am currently a 1st year irregular college student taking I.T. I transferred schools and my majors never got credited. But it's okay because i am slowly getting the logics in programming in Java. This next semester i am taking a System Analysis and Design(SADSIGN) and i am getting nervous because even though i am pretty good at logics, i am not that good at coding. But since it is a case study, we will be on group, we will be four i think. Project manager, Analyst, Documentation, and the programmer. I am asking what jobs i can get after graduating I.T. because what if i graduated I.T. and still not that good at coding, i am hoping that there will be a jobs that will require less programming. Like Database manager or in Multimedia or in charge of Network. So is there jobs that doesn't require hardcore programming skills?

I know that Escrow is within Title industry in Texas. What would be the best way to get my foot in the door. I am assuming I will have to start as an Escrow assistant and work my way up, but I would really like to find out more about this career path. How does an officer usually get licensed? I recently took an Intro To Computers course which was a full introductory course to how computers work ranging from software to hardware. I made a B average in that class, and I'm starting to wonder if the computer science degree I'm going for is the right major for me. I don't have a problem with math at all, in fact, I Love Math. I haven't taken a programming course yet, as I will starting the fall semester of this year. So is computer science a hard major?

What kind of jobs can they look for if they receive "B Grade" in C++ & Java? Also, if no jobs for them are available in the Computer field, can they look for jobs elsewhere? If so, what types of jobs? Lastly, can they become Math Teachers at a High School or teach basic Math or Programming courses in College?
