What are the basic things I need to know to be a web page designer?

I'm still not 100% sure what I want to do for a career. I'm also thinking of computer programming. Does anyone know what I would need to know for either a web page designer or a computer programmer.

You need to know. How to code in HTML, CSS, some JAVA, and XHTML, PHP, But it really depends on what your wanting to make a web page for. You also need the lay out of coding and Computer knowledge. Hope that answers your question!

As Web page Designer you would basically need to be imaginative and good with layouts and designs. In terms of programming languages a web designer has a lot of choices and would primarily depend on the kind of web site that you design. In general the following languages would help... More

Webpage Designer: A basic understanding of art and visual concepts. -HTML/XML -Tools like photoshop and well basically the whole adobe suit. Computer programming: -Math -Math -More Math -Java -C++ or any other Programming language.
