How do I fix sound problem with new radio in 95 Ford Aerostar XLT?

I just installed an aftermarket radio, and now there's 2 issues. The first is with the front speakers. When the volume is up, they make a popping sound with any kind of bass, and the volume wont go as loud as it did with the factory radio. The second issue is with the rear speakers. They're much lower than the front ones, cant even notice them unless I turn most of the sound to the rear. Anyone has any clue whats going on? I just went and tried a few things. I reinstalled the factory radio, no issues. I tried the aftermarket, still sounds terrible. I tried sending the sound only to the rear, its making the same rattling sound as the front when some of the bass hits them. The radio I bought had a built in amp, I turned it off, no sound at all. Dont know if this will help or not. I just read the replies. Kaezoo, I'll try the first option you gave me to see how that works out. The popping is coming from the speakers, kinda like when thery're shorted out, but only with bass tones. Its not coming from the radio itself. The radio is a KENWOOD KDC-MP438U.

The Aerostar is a unique wiring setup, and requires quite a bit of extra work when you're replacing the head unit... More

are you using stock speakers? if so there is you problem, they cannot handle the output power of your new head unit.

Check the magnet on the back of the factory speakers, then check your connections "properly". Obviously you got a different radio so it works different from the factory one, that is the why the radios have manuals to show the "specifications" of what it can handle.
