Dental Hygienist HELP?

So i am a senior in high school and want to become a dental hygienist. What should i do to get started? Should i go to a community college first and get my GED done? And can i take classes at a community college that i should take before i go into a dental hygiene program? help please what classes should i take?

I live in the midwest and we have TWO community colleges that offer dental assisting AND dental hygiene. I would recommend starting out at a community college that offers that major partly because it's cheaper to start out there and the classes are usually smaller and more in depth with lab use and what not. You will definitely need your GED. Then depending on the dental hygiene program you will need 1-2 years of university credits before you can apply for the program.
