Why are Civil Engineers paid less than other Engineering fields?

They aren't paid as much as mechanical or aerospace, but civil engineering isn't that far off, like around $4,000 - $5,000 less! Ive taken a year of civil engineering and I am just finding this out now, and it is making me want to leave and join a different major I enjoy civil engineering, its active so far not too hard. what should i do?
