What is an idea for a short story I have to write about problems in our society?

I need to write a short story about a problem in our society for my English class. I was going to write about how a boy has beliefs about something and the society around him doesn't have the same values and eventually he falls under the bandwagon of society and loses his beliefs. I just don't know how to convey that into a short story. (I don't have a plot). Was wondering if anyone could think of a plot I could use to incorporate this idea. Thanks!

write about the disruptions of society due to the technology advancements. Like how conversational skills decreasing because of cell phones and lack of eye contact and stuff like that. You could blame technology as one of the reasons of obesity. be creative! hope this helps!
