What is the safest police officer job you could get?

My husband wants to become a police officer but I am a little scarse because I dont want anything to happen to him, but I know you always have a risk of something happening to you everyday, but if he became a police officer, what would be the safest job as a police officer you could get?

He could go to a very small town. I live in one myself and the last incident of crime we had was when someone drove with their radio too loud. Seriously! Someone could actually move into a police chief position in a town like this very easily.

For a commissioned officer the safest job probably would be crime scene investigator. You go to all crime scenes after the crime is over and most of the danger is gone. Plus, it is interesting work as you try to collect evidence and reconstruct what happened... More

An office position would be safe but It probably won't happen. The next safest would be the parking meter guy but those don't make a lot of money, they aren't even considered cops. They don't carry guns and they can't even arrest people. He should join the Coast Guard or the air force, those are very safe. In the Air... More

I would say the safest job is a school police officer (stationed at a school) or a college police officer or a probation officer. If he has a desk job in a big city that is safe too. Small towns are not always safe for cops. A lot of stuff goes on that town's people are unaware of (lots of domestic violence calls in... More

There is no "safe" job in law enforcement. For those answering "dispatcher" or "meter maid", you're missing the point. If your husband wants to be a police officer, he probably isn't looking for a job as a dispatcher or parking enforcement officer. Someone mentioned small towns--well that doesn't make law... More
