Should we hire a private home inspector for our new build house?

We’re building a new home in a subdivision and was wondering if we should hire a private home inspector before doing a final walk-through with the builder? The house will be done in 2 weeks. Anyone with experiences please help. Thank you.

You could, but I wouldn't. A new home is inspected by building inspectors all the way along, and if they didn't catch something during construction, it's unlikely a private inspector is going to catch something after it's all put together. This final inspection will mostly be for cosmetic items, and you're the one... More

agree with having it done... he'll see things that you won't notice until the 'new thrill' wears off and the builder has forgotten your name.... pay the money and have peace of mind.....
