What are some towns close to Manhattan New York?

My dad got a job in Manhattan and we need to find a house that is close enough to his work and in the suburbs and safe, and the house prices not out of the roof. What are some towns?

Most of that city is expensive so he'd better have a good job. If you need to commute directly into the City (Manhattan) then there are the outer boroughs of Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens, and The Bronx. There's also always Jersey City on the other side of the Hudson River.

Generally speaking, the further from New York the more house for the money. I don't know where you are coming from, NY area prices could be quite a shock if you are not from a major metropolitan area. Look at Bergen, Essex and Passaic Counties in New Jersey, Westchester and Nassau in New York, Fairfield in Connecticut.

To be honest with you there are no towns in Manhattan there are only condos, and apartment buildings. Only in upstate NY there are houses and in the Bronx and Queens. Safe places in NY are rare. plus apartments and condos cost lots of money. So Good Luck!!!!

if you are looking for a "real house" most like a neighbor hood, i think your best bet ( an only bet) is Staten island if you need to stay pretty close to manhattan at least
