What are the scientific proofs that the BIBLE is false?

People in here say that the science has proven the BIBLE wrong.
I want a list of every scientific mistake in the BIBLE.

Now, here's the catch. Even I admit that there are error is the English translation of the BIBLE. I even know what some of them are and I know what the original meant. There will always be errors when a book is translated to another language, so I want the scientific errors in the original Hebrew text.

The Bible knows nothing about the universe that we know of. In the universe that we know of, the earth is less than an insignificant spec of dust and is no more important than any other planet in the universe. The earth's sun is but one of some trillions and trillions of suns. The fact of the matter is that there is nothing special about the earth as far as the universe is concerned.

According to the Bible, God created the earth before he created the sun, moon, and stars, and he will destroy the whole cosmos in the last days when he judges the earth and its inhabitants. In that context, the earth is central to the biblical cosmos and the rest of the cosmos is subordinate to the earth. Does that make sense in light of what we know about the universe?

In the biblical view of the cosmos, the earth, sun, moon, and stars are not what we know them to be. According to the Bible the earth is a flat immovable disk supported by pillars. In Isaiah 40:22, the Hebrew word translated as "circle" in reference to the earth, means "circle" (i.e., a disk in the biblical context) not "sphere." There is not one single passage in the Bible indicating the earth is a sphere, and there are numerous passages indicating the earth is flat. See Daniel 4:10-11. According to Dan 2:28 the biblical god revealed to Nebuchadnezzar his dreams, so his vision is "inspired."

There is nothing in the Bible indicating that the earth revolves around the sun. According to the Bible it is the sun that moves, not the earth (Ecclesiastes 1:5 and many other passages) and the reference to the earth being suspended over "nothing" or "emptiness" refers to the bottomless abyss under the disk of the earth, not the outer space we know of. (If the earth is "suspended," how can it be moving around the sun at 66,000 mph?) Other passages--1 Sam 2:8, Ps 75:2, Ps 96:10, and many others--clearly indicate that the earth is set on pillars and does not move. There are no passages whatsoever indicating otherwise. Don't forget that the church burned Giordano Bruno at the stake for saying that the earth moves in contradiction to the Bible, and that it would have done the same to Galileo if he had not recanted.

According to the Bible, the firmament (literally in the Hebrew: "that which is beaten out," as a beaten out metal plate) of heaven is a solid structure (NEB: Job 37:18: "Can you beat out the vault of the skies, as he does, hard as a mirror of cast metal?) that holds back the waters above the heaven, and the stars are just lights set in the firmament and will fall to the earth in the last days.

All of the passages that indicate the above cannot be called mere poetic expressions or figures of speech. They are called poetic expressions or figures of speech today because we know that they do not reflect the cosmos as we know it to be. But in biblical times they were not poetic. Why should every single such expression be poetic? Even if a passage is expressed as poetry or figure of speech, why should it not reflect reality? Why is there not one single passage in the Bible indicating the actual nature of the cosmos?

In his book, The Biblical Cosmos Versus Modern Cosmology, David Presutta presents an enormous amount of evidence from the Bible showing all of this.

ADDED:
Answerer What'snext fools around with the Hebrew to come up with meanings that are different from what the usage is in the Bible. For example, she says "take the word 'pillars" for example. In Hebrew the word is 'amood' ... which comes from the word meaning to stand, IN VARIOUS RELATIONS....Doesn't this show that the earth was put in its place by Elohim in exactly the right place."

The word is "ammuwd" and is what is used in certain places in the Bible. Its meaning is column or pillar. The word that it comes from, "amad," is not what is used, so the meaning of that word is irrelevant. Even so, the earth is not standing in place (though the Bible actually does say in other places that it is standing in place and does not move). It is orbiting the sun at 66,000 miles per hour.

She does the same thing with "circle." Isaiah used chuwg, not chagag (the lexicon compares chuwg to chagag; it does not say chuwg is derived from chagag). Chuwg means circle. Isaiah (40:22) is describing the shape of the earth as a circle, i.e., a flat disk.

Curiously, she then quotes Job 9:6-8, which illustrates quite well that the earth is fixed in place (unless god shakes it out of its place) and is placed on pillars. It also shows that it is the sun that moves instead of the earth. And it shows that the Bible looks at the stars as something that can be sealed off, which is meaningless in our view of the cosmos, but can make sense in the biblical cosmos in which the stars are just lights set in the solid firmament of heaven.

ALSO ADDED:
Answerer John the Baptist did some rewriting of the Bible also. He said: "1) The spherical shape of the earth (Isaiah 40:22 and Job 26:10)." As stated above, the original Hebrew word is Chuwg, which means "circle," not sphere. Isaiah is saying that god is sitting above the disk of the earth. There are enough other references in the Bible indicating that the earth is flat to show that Isaiah is referring to the flat disk of the earth.

Baptist also said "2) The earth is suspended in nothing (Job. 26:7)." It says no such thing. It says the earth is suspended over or above nothing. The Hebrew word is "al," which means "over" or "above," not "in." The spherical earth we know of is not "over" or "above" anything. So when the passage is saying that earth is suspended over nothing, it means the flat disk of the earth is suspended over the abyss under it. In saying the earth is suspended, it is also saying the earth is not moving.

The remainder of the items in that list are vague or not really significant. In Item 7, Ps 135:7 fits my description of the Bible cosmos than it does the actual. The ends of the earth? the winds are kept in storehouses? In Ecc 1:6-7 what is the place whence the rivers come? In any case, Isaiah 55:10 specifically contradicts both Ecc 1:6-7 and the water cycle. It says that the rain does not return from whence it came.

Bible believers don't understand what the Bible is actually saying. They interpret it to mean what they want it to mean, not what it actually means.

There aren't any, so you're going to have a long wait. Everything that the critics have listed as impossible is quite possible with God; he's just too big and powerful to fit THEIR FINITE mindset. And I have a Hebrew Old Testament Bible and I can post the original texts here, but using a foreign language in a posting is against Community Guidlines.

The overall message of the Bible is one of God's love, which is immeasurable but nevertheless given a pretty good explanation here:

http://www.fathersloveletter.com/flltextenglish.html

Even though the Bible's purpose is God's message of Love to us, it is also an excellent source of scientific truths. The following scientific facts are recorded in scripture, long before man "discovered" them:

1) The spherical shape of the earth (Isaiah 40:22 and Job 26:10).
2) The earth is suspended in nothing (Job. 26:7).
3) The stars are innumerable (Gen. 15:5).
4) The existence of valleys in the seas (2 Sam. 22:16).
5) The existence of springs and fountains in the sea (Gen.7:11; 8:2; Prov. 8:28).
6) The existence of water paths(ocean currents) in the seas (Psalm 8:8).
7) The water cycle (Job. 26:8; 36:27-28; 37:16; 38:25-27; Ps. 135:7; Ecc. 1:6-7).
8) The fact that all living things reproduce after their own kind (Gen. 1:21; 6:19).
9) The nature of health, sanitation, and sickness (Gen.17:9-14; Lev. 12-14).
10) The concept of entropy, that energy is running down (Psalm 102:26).

Since the scriptures that today are accepted as Canon consist of 66 books written by about 40 authors over a time span of some 1600 years, and we have over 24,000 manuscripts in Hebrew, Greek and to a lesser extent Aramaic* and Latin, there are obviously textural differences in spelling and punctuation, and there are certain things like bats being birds probably lost in translation....

HOWEVER

Dr. Bruce Metzger, who went on to be with the Lord a few short years ago, was, during his lifetime, arguably the world's greatest living Bible scholar, stated this; that "No doctrine of Christianity rests upon a disputed scripture."

This is a monumental statement, and it was made by a monumental scholar; you can google or Wiki Dr. Metzger and find that his written works (books) are TODAY used by Christian Colleges and Universities around the world as TEXTBOOKS, he was THE editor in chief of the Revised Version of the Bible, and if you go into a Christian bookstore and pick up any Bible at random, more than likely he will be referred to in the footnotes, credits, references as a source, or bibliography.

I therefore submit that those who cannot comprehend the miracles recorded in the Bible or the Awesomeness of God are actually afraid of admitting the truth to themselves. They are accountable to God, but rather than admit this, they delude themselves into "thinking" God doesn't exist, and an easy way to support this fancy is to attack the Bible.

Can you imagine a modern day "atheist" on board ship with Jesus:

Mar 4:37 Suddenly a windstorm struck the lake. Waves started splashing into the boat, and it was about to sink.
Mar 4:38 Jesus was in the back of the boat with his head on a pillow, and he was asleep. His disciples woke him and said, "Teacher, don't you care that we're about to drown?"
Mar 4:39 Jesus got up and ordered the wind and the waves to be quiet. The wind stopped, and everything was calm.
Mar 4:40 Jesus asked his disciples, "Why were you afraid? Don't you have any faith?"
Mar 4:41 Now they were more afraid than ever and said to each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!"

The KEY phrase is "more afraid than ever" which is how atheists will be when faced with God. At the moment, he doesn't fit in their little boxes. He isn't little, and the most hardened atheists have until their dying breath to repent and acknowledge Him, or face the consequences.

Yours in Christ,
John the Baptist

Rather than refer to Hebrew - which (as at least one answer remarked) is not a language of fluency for most people, you should have simply listed those very few Scriptural passages which, due to conciseness, are scientifically inaccurate. I know of one: the "bat is a bird" thing (it is **scientifically** inaccurate). Otherwise I know of none, and you could easily dispatch the poor suggestions made above that are so badly portrayed as scientific proof.

There aren't any but scientists are more and more proving what the Bible says is true.

The problem seems to be that some people who don't believe the Bible are a little bit dogmatic and won't take notice, but take the word 'pillars" for example. In Hebrew the word is 'amood' (sorry I can't type the Hebrew) which comes from the word meaning to stand, IN VARIOUS RELATIONS (literal and figurative, intransitive and transitive). Doesn't this show that the earth was put in its place by Elohim in exactly the right place.

Since the Bible was written, languages have become more fragmented, most would say more complex. This means that there are more words available to describe things. Now someone on here mentioned bats (not sure why?) but in any case, the word for bird 'owp' means feathered with wings, but the word comes from 'oof' which means something which flies. Do you see the difference?

This became evident when translating about Yeshua's (Jesus) hands. Because the crucifixion was carried out by nailing, and because when translated into English, it is explained that the nails pierced His hands, but science tell us that this may not be able to hold man's weight and so is sometimes thought of as a discrepancy. However, if as I believe, that the Gospels were written in Hebrew it is then easy to explain that the word for "hand" and "arm" were the same, and the nails pierced HIs wrists (for our sakes).

It is the same to this day in Arabic although there is a way of saying "hand" it is not one word and what is more usual is that they say "arm".

It is the same with 'circle'. There is a word in Hebrew which is translated as circle but means 'compass' - to revolve (kabab). Isaiah used a word 'khug' which means 'circle' BUT it comes from the word 'khagag' which means GIDDY. Isaiah knew that the earth was round and that it was spinning.

There is also evidence that the Biblical writers understood that the earth was spherical (even thought they could not have explained that in a word). The jet stream:

"The wind goes toward the south,
And turns around to the north;
The wind whirls about continually,
And comes again on its circuit." Ecclesiastes 1:6

They also knew how rain was formed and so on and so forth
I could go on ..

Insects with four feet? No. When translated, it should be something like this:

Swarming (usually translated as creeping), flying things with wings, that sprawl (like a baby creeping on all fours). Like the housefly.

Joshua slowing the sun and moon.

Joshua uttered the celebrated command, "Sun, stand thou still on Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon" (Joshua. 10:12).

The sun is the center of our solar system, the moon would have crashed into the earth.

By inferring from this particular Bible passage, Joshua believed the earth was the center, but we know that to be wrong.

Copernicus proved mathematically our system is heliocentric and it was verified by Galileo a long time ago.

- Rabbits don't chew cud.

- The Sun couldn't stop in the sky.

- "Firmament" is outdated hooey.

- The Tower of Babel is bunk. We know where language comes from.

- Flood? What flood?

- Snakes, donkeys can't talk. (even if they wanted to)

Open the bible and read the first page and you'll find scientific proof that the bible is false.

God creating light by saying 'let there be light' is clear violation of scientific laws dealing with thermodynamics and the conservation of energy.

Further more sound can't exist in a void so God couldn't have possibly said anything anyway.

As far as science is concerned anything that so blatantly and frequently breaks scientific law is false.

Far too many to even start on!!

But there is absolutely nothing to suggest that the bible is anything other than "faction" a fictional story in a factual setting!!

There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one!!! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!!

He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record?

Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!!

Pilot is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!!

At best he was an amalgam of those others!!

The Roman Emperor Constantine produced the bible and he was a pagan not god!!! He also organized Christianity into the Holly Roman Catholic Church!! Not in Israel or any of the countries of supposed origin but entirely Italian!!

Not one word of it is contemporary with the period and was not written until many years after the period the story is set in!! How did the apostles write their books long after they were dead?

What a wonder full disinformation and deception campaign he waged against his Christian enemies - so good in fact that Christians are still following the deception to this day!!!

I've always freelanced as a web designer and might have an opportunity to work at a large ad agency. sorta nervous about the culture and role, so I was wondering if I could solicit feedback about the type of strengths I might need to develop, ie., strong project management (learn to use basecamp!), etc. I've held jobs on the client side as a web marketing manager and before that freelanced -- but on the very small scale. anyone with similiar experiences or feedback I'd love to hear from you!

I know that Escrow is within Title industry in Texas. What would be the best way to get my foot in the door. I am assuming I will have to start as an Escrow assistant and work my way up, but I would really like to find out more about this career path. How does an officer usually get licensed? Are there classes we need to take and exam to take? Any response is appreciated.

Advances in technology will soon cause 70-80?nemployment in the USA. How will all those millions of people eat, then? That will lead to a conflict between Social Market-ists (gov't imposed wealth redistribution) and Free Market-ists (no gov't imposed wealth redistribution). First, the Luddite Fallacy. It WAS valid UNTIL machines could do most human mental functions better than humans. Some experts are already saying this, but generally it seems like the American Society and its leaders are proceeding in utter ignorance. You probably know about all the technologies that now exist or will soon be up & running, & which will massively reduce the need for human labor in the economy, thus MAKING MOST HUMANS UNNECESSARY to the economy. Some facts: (1) A couple weeks ago all the toll booth workers on the Golden Gate Bridge were all dismissed because the gov't bought a machine to handle everything. (2) Computer voice recognition already exists, in programs such as Siri and Google Voice and others. But very soon these programs will be so much better. Virtually all the human-staffed customer service call centers will disappear very soon. Human office receptions will be mostly eliminated. (3) McDonald's already has a prototype version of their fast food restaurant with NO human workers on site. (4) Wal-Mart & other retailers already have plans for stores with NO human cashiers. (5) Google's driverless cars and trucks will soon eliminate most drivers of commercial trucks & taxi cabs. (6) IBM's computer "Watson" defeated the best human players on "Jeopardy" about a year ago. Watson had to hear and understand host Alex Trebeck's spoken speech just like the human contestants. IBM created Watson to replace Medical Doctors. The plan is that nurses and nurses practitioners will take data from patients (temperate, blood pressure, reports of pains, etc.), enter that into Watson, and Watson will order tests and make prescriptions and treatment plans. Unlike human doctors, Watson will KNOW EVERYTHING about medical science. Doctor errors currently kill about 100,000 patients per year in hospitals alone. Patients will DEMAND to be diagnosed by Watson (or other equivalent) & have a prescription by Watson, since studies will show that patients fare so MUCH better when Watson is their “doctor,” and the cost will be MUCH less. (7) Computers are now replacing the lawyers that formerly had to spend massive hours read through massive amounts of documents turned over to the opposing side in "discovery" in civil lawsuits. Documents now are turned over in digital form, and computers search in seconds them looking for key words and phrases. (8) Soon publishers will stop printing books on paper. Everyone will have an e-Reader device. That will be the END of every physical library and bookstore. (9) Soon computers will be able to general characters in movies that are indistinguishable from real humans. Not only actors will lose their jobs, but costume people, makeup people, scene construction people, camera operators, key grips, electricians, lighting experts, etc. (10) New machines are replacing the humans who pick vegetables in fields. (11) New machines are replacing human security guards. (12) Human airplane pilots, both in the military and in commercial service, will soon be extinct. The FAA has already approved testing of drone planes for commercial transportation of non-human cargo. (13) Most trades on Wall Street are already being made by computers. (14) The U.S. Postal Service is doomed. Paying thousands of people to drive around in little trucks to deliver little printed pieces of paper to each household each day is going to seem more and more like idiocy. (15) Most of the reviews and analysis currently being done by human accountants, actuaries, tax experts, and other financial analysts and consultants will be done must better, more more quickly, and much more accurately, by computers. (16) Web sites already are using computer programs to write the text for stories that report on sports games. The program integrates the statistics from the game into a story text that seems to have been written by a human being. (17)Most education at the college and high school level will soon be done online, eliminating a massive number of workers. Thus, GIGANTIC UNEMPLOYMENT, in the range of 70-80?is coming soon to the USA. This will result in Rio De Janeiro type slums all over the USA. That will result in calls for gov't wealth redistribution, which will result in Armed Revolution, Counter-Revolution, concentration camps, & Latin American-style death squads. The rich and ultra-rich are never going to let any government get control of their wealth. Huge bloody CONFLICT is coming. * * * Politicians keep repeating the old canard that the solution is to train and retrain Americans for the "jobs of the future." But they are either morons or are lying, since anyone who thinks about it can easily see that even if every American worker had an engineering degree or a computer science degree, the economy just doesn't need that many engineers and computer scientists. * * * * * * * Why don't more people see this? Why aren't more people talking about this? We are facing soon a catastrophe in the USA (and in other places) on par of the plagues in Europe that killed half of the population in certain areas, and on par with the depopulation in Europe brought about by WWI and WWII. Sure, you can just repeat the Luddite Fallacy, and proclaim that the economy will always create enough jobs for most people to survive. But there is no law of economics that says that any law of economics will always operate the same. Laws of economics are not like the laws of physics. Economies and life forms can and do evolve in fundamental ways that make former economic models and ways of life obsolete. I'm sure the last tribe of Neanderthals were certain that nothing was ever going to change, right before the Homo Sapiens swooped down on them, chased them into a dead end canyon were other Homo Sapiens were lying in wait with big clubs. * * * * * * * * * In the past the Luddite Fallacy was valid since machines always needed the mental acuity that only human operators could provide, and machines frequently needed maintenance by skilled human hands and minds. But now machines have mental functions that equal or surpass what humans can provide in most work functions. And computers aren't so much repaired anymore as just thrown away and replaced. How many cell phone repair shops have you ever seen? Even most laptop computers are replaced rather than repaired. More and more laptop computers never even need to be repaired for years and years. In short, when the economy has no use for most Americans, all h*ll is going to brake loose, & that's coming soon. * * * * *
