Will the shutting down of the No.8 car be good or bad for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing?

Now that Truex and Bass Pro Shops can't leave, will one less team make all of EGR deeper, or will one less set of test data hurt them?

They need a new prospect to bring a sponsor for a third team. Juan and his team are doing a great job . Truex is a dud. It's time for him to go as much as I like him. He has had good cars and let it slip away from him too many times. Yeah yeah thumb me for all I care. It's time for Bass Pro Shops and EGR to get... More

They won't be the last team closing down this year. I doubt it will hurt them as the #8 hasn't done squat.

What else could they do? Aric is outside the top 35 and hasn't been racing good. They weren't going to be able to attract any sponsors to keep it going. It's better to just shut it down and focus on the #1 and #42 cars. Juan Montoya actually hasn't been too bad this year and is sitting just outside the top 12. Martin... More

it's gonna suck for EGR. Now they're gonna have issues with the #1 car too. That leaves the 42, who, I think, is going to make the Chase this year.

The teams aren't really able to test much anyway, I don't think it will matter that much as far as that goes. Make it deeper? Less money spent on a 3rd car, more to spend on the two remaining. I don't if that's deeper or not...maybe.

I find it amazing that Theresa E. was so stupid that she allowed her "franchise" to leave rather than give him ownership in the business. Now she's part owner of a second tier team that has never been competitive in Cup.... Nice move.
