What does a camera engineer do? What field of engineering do i need to study for these jobs?

What does a 1: camera engineer do? 2: digital engineer do? 3: broadcasting engineer do? I came across these terms while searching for jobs relating to inventing cameras...I also want to know the required field of study in engineering in order to pursue these jobs...(I'm interested in inventing hi-tech stuff overall)can i just study engineering in general? (Sorry for the long question... ;P )

1. camera engineer. you are 50 years too late. back in the 1950's cameras were so tempermental that a full time engineer was assigned to each camera used in a television studio. ccd sensors and ICs have eliminated problems associated with camera alignment and repairs... More

Regular engineering is more like large-scale stuff. I know for sure that a broadcasting engineer is not the job you're looking for. That implies operating the broadcasting equipment in a studio.
