What are the pros and cons of joining the coast guard?

My son is graduating in December with a bachelor's degree in information services. His interest is in computer forensics. He is considering the coast guard after he graduates. Is it likely he would be able to work in his chosen field if he enlists in the coast guard? What are the risks of enlisting? Are most people who have joined happy, or do many have regrets? If he enlists, is it typical to negotiate a deal with recruiter? If so, what are typical negotiations?

Smallest of the 5 military services, the Coast Guard's main job is enforcing maritime laws. HWith a college degree he should look into OCS, the Oficer Candidate School. It takes 90 days and is intensive training.
