I have an interview to go to on Monday. They are asking for my State ID, SS Card?

The staffing agency is called winston resources. I was wondering what do they need this Information for? It seems like alot and I haven't accepted any jobs yet from them. I didnt have to go through this with other agencies. I don't have a problem bringing in the info, BUT I don't want a case of ID fraud/theft neither. Any advice? I checked them out on www.hovers.com and they do have a profile. So I was just wondering. Any advice? They also are offering some kind of test. I am just curious. The company's web address is: http://www.winstonresources.com/ They are located here in New York City. www.hoovers.com

Yes, this is standard procedure. If this is an employment agency, then they may likely be placing you into a position or positions in the future, but they first must verify that you are legal to work in the U.S. To do this, employers need either: (1) a passport , or (2) a driver's license and SS card... Not sure what state you are in, but i am in wisconsin. In all of my employers you have to bring those for a copy for their files. I think that is for when like some government agency comes along for elegal aliens, they have the proof that all their employees are legal. the test sucks. Most likely it is for... More

Regardless of what anybody on here tells you, you do not have to show ID and SS card, until you are actually hired. And then, it is the law, except for Hispanics who have entered the country illegally. They are excused from showing the required ID.

They all need to check your background and citizenship status. You need these documents with any job interview or employment agency.
