Job offer with failed background check from pretrial diversion omission?

I was offered a job subject to a background check for a financial service/bank. Unfortunately I was deemed unbondable. In 2002 I went on pretrial diversion for a misdameanor. When filling out the application I answered that I was never charged with a crime and that was why I cannot get the job. Its been 7 years since than and after one year of probation, the charges are dropped and expunged from my record in Indiana. How did the background check come up with this and what can I do?

Did you deal with a parole officer or attorney with regards to the diversion? Try contacting them. Write a letter disputing the matter to the background check agency.

Hello. That type of crime will never go away. What the court said was it won't show up in a traffic stop but jobs requiring high honesty will always find out your past. It will follow you forever. Now you know that.
