How do I know if I want to be a firefighter?

I want to finish a University course (something based around science) and then I am thinking about becoming a firefighter. If I start training at 21-24 (depending on what I do in University) when will I be qualified to be one? I know it is a very physically demanding job so what age do firefighters go up too? Or do the more experienced firefighters become mangers or something? PS - Money is not a huge issue as long as it is enough.

It depends on your maturity and performance at interview. If you are immature and not mentally aware, they will not accept you no matter what qualifications you have. The role is more mentally challenging than physical, especially when dealing with fire related deaths and road accidents.
