army reserve should I and what type of bonuses are there?

Hi Im 33 and was thinking of joining the army reserves. I have 2 small children and a wife. I wanted to join when I was 18 but was to fat. Now that Im older and in shape I want to join and also get a new career out of the deal. I took the asvab and got a 90%. From what I have been able to find out that is a good score and the recruiter said I should be able to pick almost any job. 1. Is it a bad idea to join if I have small kids 2. I was think about a 4 or 6 yr. commitment or maybe just do the 8 seeing as they could pull me back if they needed to anyway. 3. On average how many times do you think I would be deployed? 4. I was trying for pharmacy tech. 5. Any sign on bonuses going on now that I should ask about? Thanks for any help you guys can offer. Jason

if you are truly considering it for the monetary benefits... i will have to say, dont do it. if you're thinking about the benefits for your family (Tri-Care, educational, life benefits), well those are well and easy to get if you're truly interested. the recruiter lied if he said ALMOST any job... because with a 90/99... You are too old to be thinking about joining, you're not 18 with your whole life ahead of you. You are 33 with a wife and children. Dont play games with your future.

yeah but its the reserves, so its actually more of a career choice for him. the recruiter should be able to tell you what is available to you and you should choose what best interests you as well as whether you will be able to work within commuting distance of your home
