How do you suggest getting a short(ish) book published?

I wrote a book of around 10,000 words, and want to know what to do with it now?! I wrote a book of around 10,000 words and want to know what to do with it now?! By the way, it's not intended to be a novel, I just enjoy writing and many people have read it and think it is good enough to be published. Try cutting 3,000 words to meet the requirements and see if the story holds up. It may even be better for the editing.

Maybe you should have a professional editor edit it for you first. Then send it to publishers. I would do some research on which publishers are favorable for your kinds of story and for unknown authors.
