What are the pros and cons of learning to fly a helicopter from school versus learning it from the military?

I would like to fly commercial helicopters as a career. I have two choices: Join the military and learn from them or go to College, attain an AS degree and spend my time at flight school. what are the pros and cons and why?

The military has both pros and cons, the biggest pro would be the cost to you, the flight training is all free. You have chances to move to other helicopters and for different missions. The biggest con would be you are now a member of the military for the # of years required according to your contract. You also can go... More

i flew helicopters in the army for nine years. the pros: the best training available and a simple written test to gain faa commercial instrument ratings and i paid for none of it. the cons: thirteen months flying medivac in vietnam.

The military training as all here agree is the best... but what is not mentioned is that you are going to be gaining experience in TURBINE helicopters which is something you will NOT get in your flight school.
