Anyone live in the Syracuse area!?

I just asked this in a different category...sorry if you see it again. I got 0 answers. (: Hey all. My Mom's job forces us to move quite a bit, and we need to move to Syracuse in the next few weeks. Well personally, I LOVE SNOW... and I figure with the Great Lakes around, it snows A LOT. I'm pretty excited to be moving to NY too. My Dad on the other hand, says there's quite a bit of crime, (Robberies, aggravated robberies, gang crimes, etc.) We looked it up online, and yes, the crime rates in Syracuse are a bit high. Is it an undesirable area? Is the crime HORRIBLE, or is it just as mild as any other city? Thanks! :) I know that the town of Syracuse has nothing to do with NYC, but I couldn't really find a suitable category, so bear with me. http://syracuse.areaconnect.com/crime1.htm This is just one site with demographics, but most sites I looked at showed that Syracuse is a little above national crime rates or whatever. But that doesn't mean anything, there must be a reason. It sounds like a charming town to me. :\
