DemocRATs, Why did Obama nominated Sotomayor, a hispanic lady but not an Asian or Indian judge?

I wont say white because that is not "change", I thought your party stands for equality, am I correct? Then why did Obama pick Miss Sotomayor? Has he considered Asian or Indian judge? Or did he picked Sotomayor to appeal to the Hispanic votes?

I thought conservatives were mad at liberals for playing the race card? Playing it right back at us, eh? Oh, and your name is an oxymoron, just FYI. ;)

Wanna know a little secret? If he had nominated an Indian, Black, Asian or gremlin, you would be asking this same moronic question, so please....Just go away...okay? My head hurts when you get stupid like this.

I been waiting for a republican to knock his decision. The guy can't win. You people are like a bunch of buzzards wanting him to fail. You are so un-american! By the way, he pick her because of her experience and background! No matter who he pick, you wouldn't like.

Would you be throwing such a fit if he had picked a white judge? Would race even be an issue? Is THAT not racism?

You know I like to believe that he picked her because she has so much experience in the field of law and will be able to make informed decisions. But the sad fact is that there is an air of change for change's sake that sometimes hovers around the Obama administration. But, if she is experienced and will make... More

He has explained his reasons for picking her. Of course, you can believe that he's lying and has a hidden agenda, butthat's your issue, not mine.

If you want serious answers, you should probably refrain from childish name calling. Maybe he picked her because he thought she would be the best person for the position?

Obama already appeals to Hispanic voters. Perhaps you should review Judge Sotomayor's excellent credentials.

If he's nominating a Hispanic person then it is "change" by your definition because there are no hispanic judges on the bench there.

Despite all the speculation and flirting with the idea of candidates with unorthodox résumés, Supreme Court nominees are almost invariably plucked from the pool of federal appellate judges. And there are no Asian or Native American federal appellate judges.
