Since these children did not have a normal life and were moved around the world so much, their parents had a habit of treating them with fewer rules. This made outsiders consider them brats. Truth is, being on a military base most of the time has more strict rules than civilians.

Military dependents get into all kinds of trouble. We had 2 die not to long ago racing on a military base.

They were called military brats because most ot the time their fathers were away from home and the children did what they wanted, no type of discipline.
