Why do so any customers complain about the customer service at retail stores?

It's not like these people are paid to satisfy your shopping experience. That's the company's job. And you would think they would be more concerned about the quality than who can help them find what their you looking for.

The reason is in the title of the department: CUSTOMER Service. These people are paid to fulfill a job and that is to service the customer. As employees of the company, they are the representatives who are hired to take care of the customer when they aren't happy with something or are having some type of problem... More

when someone takes the trouble to visit a store, they want someone to pay attention to them and service them. I can sit at home and shop online if i don't want to deal with a person. And you are wrong, the only reason you are there is to assist customers.

Retail sales and customer service jobs exist solely to serve the customer: help them find what they are looking for, handle complaints and issues, and ensure that the customer is happy and keeps coming back.
