How do nurses protect themselves from illness & diseases that the patients carry?

There are lots and lots of standards in place. Latex or nitrile gloves, used once, frequent and thorough hand washing, clean environment, air quality (ever notice how chilly a hospital is? that's to slow bacteria, viruses, and other buggies from multiplying) and face masks and body fluid barriers when necessary. I heard they have nice protective clothes and stuff like masks, clothes that cover all of their skin, and lots of sterilization.

we do get inoculated against some diseases. we also wash frequently wear special clothing and masks.
