Is it possible to get the Benefits Agency to use their brains?
I suffer PTSD as a result of a workplace assault. I left that job & have been unable to work more than part-time for 14 years. In 2006 I applied for Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit but it was rejected on the grounds of lack of medical evidence, two weeks before their medical. Their medical confirmed that I suffer PTSD & am disabled. I went through ther appeals system & presented this and a lot more medical evidence, but the appeal refused to consider any of it. I made fresh applications & included all the medical evidence, but these were ignored. I appealed against the appeal misjudgement on the grounds that they had refused to consider the evidence. This went to national level, but by now it was becoming clear that the appeals system is just part of the benefits agency & exists only to "justify" their decisions no matter how wrong they may be. In May 2008 I suffered another assault in my present job & was unable to work for 5 months. As a consequence I was put back through the medical system which confirmed the previous diagnosis and quite clearly pointed to the cause of my injury being my previous employer, the symptoms keeping me off work being only a sequent of the original injury. With this new medical evidence I applied again for IIDB. This time the benefits agency turned down my application on the grounds that they have turned me down before. I didn't realise prejudice is a valid excuse! I now have extensive medical evidence which the benefits agency has never considered. Unfortunately owing to the PTSD I am unable to use the phone. Their website does no more than return you a phone number. They do not use humans to read e-mails. Can anyone give me the address of a website through which a disabled person can get help?

Can't you get the help from a group who support disability or assist in welfare rights? 14 yrs is a long-time to suffer post traumatic stress, should you not have seen psychologists to help you. http://www.ptsduk.co.uk/index.html

Write a letter FAO to your district office outlying your problem. The DWP can't operate like a closed office anymore they all signed up to the investor in people and other charters. Look at the letters you've been sent is there a name at the bottom, someone like your district office manger? if they're names on it... More
