Whats a career in which you solve specific problems and/or work towards specific goals?

For example, things like factory work, retail manager, teacher, etc do not interest me. These jobs mostly require you to complete repeated and predictable tasks for a preset amount of time. I am interested in a job in which a problem, dilemna or goal is given to you and you must come up with a solution. In other words, you are working towards something very clear and precise and when you are done you have a sense of accomplishment. Something that fits this criteria would be a computer programmer but I am looking for more ideas to consider. Thanks. i

architecture. you have to work to find a design of a house that would suit someones needs. also some engineers or jobs that use auto-cad. you can make layouts for pipes and roads that will actually be built. i'm gearing towards a type of engineering for you

The first thing that came to mind is Engineering. The whole idea of engineering is to solve problems. It requires a lot of mathematics and logical thinking skills.
