Why did you decide to become a special eduction teacher instead of a general ed teacher?

I have to write a research paper for my masters and was wondering if ten people could answer my question above. Also, what is your most memorable moment as a special educator?

More challenging work...Most of my career has been in behavioral disorders and learning disabilities. I decided to become a teacher for Deaf Preschoolers because I felt there was a real need in that area at the time.
