What is the best part about joining the navy?

What is the best thing about the NAVY? How can I explain the benefits to my husband in a very nice way? He did agree at one time he would join the navy.

Travel. I spent 22 years in the Navy. I lived in Japan, Italy, Spain and the Philippines. I also lived in Guam and Hawaii. I visited 44 foreign countries.

A dozen people could give you a dozen different answers. I personally am going to join for the travel, adventure, and because national service is something I think all qualified youth should do. EDIT: Gugliamo pretty much said it better than I ever could.

My husband got to go to some really cool places. He made some good friends. Now, he is out, and he is in college majoring in Computer Science, and it's paid for with his Montgomery GI Bill. We both enjoyed not having to worry about him losing his job while in.
