Can someone like me be a shift supervisor or assistant manager?

I worked at Subway for 5 months and in September I will be working at Pathmark for a year. Can I even apply to jobs like those without getting laughed at from managers (even if I don't know they are). I know how to close a store but if I go to a fast food restaurant they never close. My cousin is an assistant manger at Mickey D's and he's been working there for about a year or two. He is only has his high school diploma too.

never be afraid to apply for any type of management position. everyone has to start somewhere. most people these days only need a high school diploma to get a decent job. i think you should go for it and no you are not in over your head. do it and it will boost your self confidence.

If that is your only experience, I would say you need some more experience. I would focus more on going to college and graduating. Then, you could blow that out of the water with a good career. Go for owning the store, not managing it. But, that will be a few more years.
