I want to become a police detective?

I know lots of people choose something like this because they watch Law & Order, CSI, Bones, etc. I got interested when I started watching 48 Hours Mystery and Dateline, which is real. Now, Im seriously considering it. I just started highschool, so I know I'm still really young, but what can I do to start working my way up there? Are there any specific classes I should take? Specific things I should do and learn? And what would be a good University to attend?

There is no school that will make you a great detective. Being a Great Detective is possessing traits that cannot be taught in school. Traits like stubbornness, curiosity, perseverance and tenacity. In order to become a detective you have to be a patrol officer first then take a text within the department and see if they decide to promote you to a detective. A criminal justice degree is good.
