I want to go to school for Auto Mechanics but will they need them in the next 20-30 years?

I want to go to school for auto mechanics but I don't want to be jobless in 20-30 years if machines will take over the job or if cars won't be around. Should I pursue the career or pick another one?

Most schools that offer an Auto Tech program include small business management classes. So worst case scenario, if the tech jobs fall away, you'll have a back-up plan. Also, most auto tech programs offer at least an A.A.S. degree, which looks wonderful on your resume.

well who knows what it will look like in the next 20 to 30 years. i've been a diesel mechanic for years now only thing that is changing is the technology. still need a human mind to replace the parts. machines are programmed to install not replace.
