Where are the best places to live in San Francisco? Places to work?

I am 23 years old and I am moving from (just outside) NYC to San Francisco in the beginning of 2010. I am looking for advice about which neighborhoods are fun, safe, clean, etc. Ideally I would like a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment, close to the water, parks, shops and restaurants. I know this is a long and probably unrealistic wish list for my price range but any advice is welcome! I am also looking for an in-house PR, marketing or communications position. Any insight about job openings or interesting companies would be helpful. Thanks!!
