I went to UMC emergency room on 07/04/2009 but I had to wait line about 2 hour before they allow me to see doctor. However, I saw the physician instead of doctor. After I moved to UMC emergency room they took my urine and blood then gave me morphine and lingual. However, they couldn’t found out what was the reason for my pain so they put me on ultra sound test room but they still couldn’t find the reason. After 2 more hours at UMC emergency room I was free to go but still couldn’t find out what was the reason and I still had horrible pain. Then I received the enormous bills. I called hospital for negotiation but they strongly denied for any adjustment or discount because I have Sentry Insurance. However, sentry insurance also denied paying because it was not accident or surgery case. I’m a college student and my part time job doesn’t pay me enough for all my other bills and also I have lots college debt. I like to know if these bills are reasonable and if there are any unfair overcharges. Also is there are any law that can protect me from these bills without hiring lawyer? Thank you

This is why we need a national health care plan. How can a student expect to ever pay these rates? Maybe a complaint to the county medical society might help but I doubt it.
