Is it illegal to hire someone for a day who is not in the country legally, and pay them cash?

Yes, and you could be fined for that, and a repeat offence could see your license revoked. But if you do not know that he is illegal,you can borrow him some money to buy food, and as a goodwill gesture he can run a few errands for you.

yes it is! but I doubt everybody is driving around with computers linked to the immigration database to be able to check them. If they are willing to work, which 99.5% of them are, then why not have them do the work. It beats asking a citizen by the freeway whom is begging for money, instead to trying to work for it... More

But why not let them work? especially when US citizens refuse to do those jobs. With millions of unemployed Americans, why aren't they standing at home depot for work. They should take some notes from the illegals instead of sitting at home waiting for those jobs to fall on them.
